Hill Racing: reach the finish with fuel still available
Hill Racing adds fuel pressure to a simple driving choice. The accelerator provides movement, while the brake helps control the approach to changing terrain.
Controls
Use the accelerator and brake to manage the vehicle's movement.
Reach the finish with fuel still available
The accelerator and brake are the two tools for crossing the hills before the fuel runs out. Holding acceleration everywhere is not the whole task: the vehicle still needs to arrive in a controllable position on the far side of a rise. Use the brake when it helps keep the next movement manageable.
Watch the fuel limit alongside the terrain. Spending too long correcting the same awkward position works against the objective, so use what happened on a failed attempt to change your approach to that particular hill.
Reach the finish before running out of fuel
Look at the next slope before deciding whether to accelerate or brake. Treat the fuel supply as a limit on the whole route, not just the next hill.
Watching only the terrain can make it easy to overlook the remaining fuel.
Balance progress with the fuel remaining
A long struggle on one slope uses time while the fuel limit remains active. If the vehicle repeatedly loses control at the same crest, change the approach to that crest rather than holding the accelerator harder throughout the course. The brake is a tool for preserving a usable position, not simply the opposite of making progress.
Compare the outcome at the far side of the hill. Reaching the top quickly is less useful when the landing prevents you from continuing toward the finish.

Questions about Hill Racing
Can I take unlimited time on a hill?
No. You need to finish before the fuel runs out. Use acceleration and braking to make controlled progress instead of spending the run correcting the same unstable position.
